14.07.2012
On 14 July 2012, a second extraordinary meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, co-facilitated by the EUMM and the OSCE, took place in Zardiantkari.

Participants continued their discussion from the meeting on the 1July about the latest security situation and the freedom of movement of the local population in the village and the area nearby.

The representatives of the de facto South Ossetian authorities expressed their concerns about the safety of those villagers of Ossetian ethnicity in the light of recent developments in the village.

The Georgian authorities explained that their recent actions were intended to ensure the security of all those living in the village.

The EUMM and the OSCE made clear that they wanted to ensure that everyone in the village was able to feel safe and able to move freely within the village and in the area. The Georgian representatives gave certain guarantees about these issues and explained that they would arrange an open community meeting to re-assure the local population about the situation in the village.

IPRM participants agreed to reassess the situation in the village at the next IPRM meeting. This is planned to take place on 26 July 2012.
