In an effort to increase awareness about the Mission thus increasing confidence in its work, EUMM FO Gori visited the secondary school in Gori town and delivered two presentations focusing respectively on the historical and geographical background of the European Union and on the work of EUMM in Georgia. The presentations, attended by approximately 50 pupils, were well received and the audience showed an active interest in learning more about the EU and about the Mission.
The Field Office Gori team subsequently visited a class of children with disabilities who received EUMM t-shirts and other items. The day ended with a concert organized by the Gori Musical College where various young artists performed.
Within the framework of its normalization and stabilization components, and in order to further enhance direct dialogue and contact with the local population, EUMM will regularly organise similar outreach activities across towns and villages in Georgia.
