PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND PAYS A VISIT TO EUMM

01.08.2011

On 27 July 2011, the President of the Republic of Poland paid a visit to the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia as part of an official trip to Georgia. He was accompanied by HM Ambassador Urszula Doroszewska and senior personnel of the Polish President Chancellery, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy.

The delegation was received by the new Head of Mission, Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, for whom it was the first day in the Mission after he attended a series of introductory meetings in Brussels.

The delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the EUMM achievements and challenges, and the environment in which the Mission operates. The Head of Mission thanked the President of Poland for the important contribution made to the Mission by the Polish government.

The President of Poland expressed his appreciation ad support to the Mission’s work and contribution to greater stability and security in the region.

The visit of the President of Poland took place four weeks after Poland took over the rotating Presidency of the European Union.

Poland is the fifth largest contributor to the EUMM, represented by 24 staff members.
