On 31 July Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia met Dali Khomeriki, the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia. He congratulated her on her recent appointment and they discussed matters of mutual interest and possible fields of future cooperation. As part of its mandate the Mission monitors the situation of the conflict affected population, including that of IDPs. Livelihood issues, especially in the harvest season and early preparation for winter were also touched upon. As EUMM has regular patrols extensively monitoring the situation on the ground, the Head of Mission offered that EUMM could share its relevant knowledge about IDPs with the Ministry. Ambassador Tyszkiewicz also encouraged the wider involvement of civil society in IDP related projects.
