HRVP Catherine Ashton expresses her deepest sympathy to the families and friends of our colleagues who died in an attack in Kabul

18.01.2014
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

"I was deeply saddened by the death of a Danish member of the EU Police Mission in Afghanistan and a British close protection team member working for the mission, in the terrorist attack that targeted a restaurant in Kabul last night.

My deepest sympathy goes to the families and friends of our colleagues, as well as to the families and loved ones of the other innocent victims of this terrible attack.

I condemn in the strongest possible terms this appalling and unjustifiable violence. The perpetrators must be brought to justice.

The European Union is determined to continue its support for the Afghan people."
