EUMM introduces EU Special Prize for Peace Journalism to media representatives in Zugdidi and Tbilisi

31.07.2014
The EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM), in partnership with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), hosted a roundtable discussion in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region in order to present the EU Special Prize for Peace Journalism and raise awareness about the role of media in confidence-building. After the 28 July event in Zugdidi EUMM conducted another media roundtable around the same topic in Tbilisi on 06 August.

During the meetings journalists and media professionals discussed common problems existing in the media, possible fields of cooperation with EUMM and other international organizations and considered ways to enhance conflict-sensitive reporting.

EUMM Spokesperson briefed the participants on all necessary information about the Special Prize, including its criteria and rules and answered questions of the group.
A similar event was held in Gori Field Office on 18 July for Shida Kartli journalist.

Detailed information about the prize, including application forms, can be viewed on the Prize’s website: www.euprizejournalism.ge or www.eumm.eu. This year, the deadline for entries is 03 November 2014.
