The EUMM publicise new report on Gender Mainstreaming within the Mission

06.01.2017
The EUMM undertakes an ongoing assessment of Gender Mainstreaming within the Mission. Gender Mainstreaming is the process of assessing the implications for women and men of actions and activities, including procedures, policies or programmes, in all areas and at all levels.

Each year, the Mission summarises its assessment in a Special Annual Report on Gender Mainstreaming. Previously, the report has served as an internal document and consequently it has not been publicly available. This year, for the first time, the Mission is publicising the report. It provides an overview of Gender Mainstreaming in the Mission and how it meets its internal obligations, in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security.

Highlights from the 2016 report include:
  • The percentage of female international staff has steadily increased since the start of the Mission and the EUMM remains one of the most gender balanced EU Missions
  • The number of women in management positions in the Field Offices has increased
  • Two new internal training modules on practical application of gender analysis and gender issues has been developed to build the capacity of the thirteen members of the EUMM Gender Focal Point Network
  • The Mission continues its active engagement with women focused NGOs
  • The Mission continues to engage in outreach activities to raise awareness about Gender Based Violence.

The report is available in English here.
