On Friday 23 June, the Georgian Special Task Department (STD) – a Police Force under the Ministry of Interior – presented its new uniforms and new colour scheme for its vehicles. The new design is consistent with the visual appearance of other police forces.
Dark blue uniforms are replacing the previous army camouflage fatigues and vehicles are being repainted in white and blue colours instead of olive green.
The Head of Mission, Kęstutis Jankauskas, who attended the presentation, welcomed the design changes and underlined the positive aspect of their compliance with the existing agreements between the Georgian authorities and the EUMM to avoid police use of military-style uniforms or vehicles.
The Head of Mission commented on the new initiative in a short TV interview with the Ministry of Interior Media Team. See the clip in English here.
