The 65th Information Sharing Meeting coincided with the 19, 000th Patrol carried out by the EUMM Field Office Zugdidi

Recently, the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) Human Security Team from Field Office Zugdidi, hosted the 65th Information Sharing Meeting (ISM). This meeting coincided with the 19,000th  patrol conducted by Field Office Zugdidi in accordance with the Mission mandate, comprising of stabilization, normalization, confidence building and informing EU policy makers.

The 65th ISM gathered 26 representatives (20 female and 6 male) from the UNHCR, ICRC, NGOs (DEA - Association of Disabled Women and Mothers of Disabled Children, Merkuri Association, IMEDI - IDP Women’s Movement for peace, ISFED - International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy, TB Hospital, Medicins Sans Frontiers (MSF), GYLA – Georgian Young Lawyers Association), the Zugdidi Library and the institution of the Public Ombudsman in Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region.

The meeting commenced with an introduction by the Head of Field Office Zugdidi, Mr. Hakan Rapp, followed by the Field Office Reporting and Information Officer, Mr. Ville Siikasalmi. He gave the attendants a general update on the EUMM Field Office activities and findings. Afterwards, the Deputy Team Leader of the Human Security Team, Mr. Mikkel Mitchell Valnert, gave the floor to the participants who provided important and useful updates on their own organisations and activities since the last meeting in February.

Ms. Narine Danielyan, from MSF, gave her presentation on Tuberculosis awareness in Tbilisi Administrated Territory and in Abkhazia. Ms. Kristina Kilanava, from IMEDI NGO, presented the results of her NGO project, funded by the EUMM Confidence Building Fund (CBF), which communicates across the Administrative Boundary Line with Abkhazia. 

The participants expressed their gratitude for having this forum to discuss and share information. The next Zugdidi ISM is scheduled to take place on the 16 May 2018.
