THE EUMM HAS FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF A PROVOCATIVE PEACE MARCH BEING ORGANISED FOR 26 AUGUST

25.08.2011
There have been a number of claims and reports in recent days that a so called “peace march” is to take place tomorrow, 26 August, with the intention of causing provocation in the vicinity of the South Ossetian Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) .

The EU Monitoring Mission takes seriously any developments that may negatively affect stability at the ABL, and has been monitoring the situation closely, by extra patrolling and speaking to its various interlocutors, including the Georgian authorities. Up to now, the Mission has found no evidence of any planned provocative action at the ABL on 26 August.

The Mission calls on all sides to refrain from any statements or actions which may increase tension.
