Today, as the world marks the International Day of the Disappeared, our thoughts are with the family members of the missing and the disappeared. The uncertainty of the fate and whereabouts of loved ones remains a harsh reality among many families from all conflict-affected communities in Georgia. To ease the hearts of those affected, EUMM urges everyone involved to fully cooperate and exchange information on the fate of missing persons, whereabouts of mass graves and other burial sites.
The International Day of the Disappeared reminds us that the pain of uncertainty is the same for families from all over the world and from all communities. Resolving this issue is key to restoring community relations and a step towards reconciliation in Georgia.”
