43rd IPRM meeting takes place in Ergneti

On 21 March 2014 the 43rd meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Toivo Klaar, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Angelo Gnaedinger, the OSCE Special Representative for the Southern Caucasus.

Participants reviewed the current security situation and acknowledged the effective use of the Hotline in resolving specific issues such as the return of missing livestock. They exchanged views on the consequences of the installation of fences on the livelihood of local communities, with a special focus on access to agricultural land.

As the agricultural season has started the co-facilitators once again emphasized the need for a pragmatic approach on access to farming land.

The next IPRM meeting will take place on 28 April 2014.
