The 57th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting takes place in Gali

27.06.2018
The 57th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, chaired by the UN, with participation of the EU Monitoring Mission, was held in Gali on 27 June 2018.
This Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting was short.  Divergent positions were expressed by participants regarding one agenda point. It did not prove possible to conclude deliberations as some participants did not see a basis for continuing the meeting.

During this short meeting the EU Monitoring Mission and the UN Chair agreed that the security situation had remained stable since the last Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting on 18 May. There was a recognition of the essential role of the EU Monitoring Mission managed Hotline in ensuring the exchange of information between participants, and thereby maintaining stability. The EU Monitoring Mission informed all participants there had been 61 hotline activations on 28 different issues since the last meeting in Gali.

The EU Monitoring Mission remains convinced of the essential role of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism format in Gali in promoting stability on the ground and facilitating dialogue on the conditions of the local population. The Mission looks forward to a swift resumption of the Gali Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting and will continue to engage constructively to that effect.
