Erik Høeg, Head of the EU Monitoring Mission, met with the Chairperson of the Parliament, Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze

Erik Høeg, Head of the EU Monitoring Mission, met with the Chairperson of the Parliament, Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze, on 30 January 2018.

During the meeting, Mr. Kobakhidze underlined the importance of the Mission and the tasks, which it carries out as the only international monitoring presence on the ground. A number of points, raised by the Chairperson regarding developments in the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, were discussed.

Mr. Høeg gave a general overview of the present mandate and activities of the EU Monitoring Mission, as well as challenges, which the Mission is facing while implementing its mandate.  

Mr. Kobakhidze and Mr. Høeg finally discussed parliamentary work that would take place during the Spring Session, including upcoming legislative initiatives.
