EUMM COMES TO YOU!!!

As part of the EU DAY celebrations this year the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) has a wide range of events taking place across the country during the week beginning on  May 9. This includes EUMM BUS TOUR to a number of villages, where EUMM staff will be explaining the work of the Mission and organizing games, quizzes and many other activities. There will be lots of interesting EUMM items including t-shirts, flags, pens, and balloons available. You are welcome to attend any of these events. The schedule is as follows:

Field Office Zugdidi:

  • May 9, 2011 - 10:00 – 15:00 ZUGDIDI, School N 1
    EUMM stand will offer quizzes and award winners with small prizes. Volleyball and mini soccer tournaments will be held. Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss with monitors and be part of the activities. 
  • May 14, 2011 - 11:00 TSALENJIKHA
    EUMM stand with quizzes and small prizes for the winners. Variety of activities with the local population is planned.
  • May 15, 2011  - 11:00 KHALAGHALI
    EUMM stand with quizzes and small prizes for the winners. Variety of activities with the local population is planned.

     
Field Office Gori:
 
  • May 10, 2011 - 12:00 SACHKHERE
    Doors open for public at the EUMM Forward Base. EUMM will present information about the Mission’s work. Visitors will be offered to play the EUMM quiz, receive small presents and discuss with monitors.
  • 12:00 PEREVI
    The EUMM Bus will park close to the PEREVI School. Everyone is welcome to attend the event. Finger food and soft drinks will be provided. Visitors will be able to receive information about the mission’s work, participate in the EUMM quiz and other celebratory activities.
  • 14:00 SPETI
    EUMM Basketball Team will play against SPETI school team. Small reception will be held for teams and visitors after the game.
  • May 11, 2011- 11:00 DIRBI
    The EUMM bus will stop at DIRBI School. EUMM Basketball team will play a game while children can participate in the EUMM quiz and get small gifts from EUMM. Information about the mission’s work will also be provided.
  • 19:00 GORI
    Monitors will deliver information about the mission’s work in GORI Central Square
  • 20:00 GORI
    A Rock Concert organized by EUMM will be held in Gori Central Square. The GORI Rock Band IRON KNIGHTS, will play for 1,5 hours. Concert will be held on a big stage with sound and light systems rented by EUMM. In case of rain the concert will be moved to the GORI concert hall. Entry is free of charge. The band IRON KNIGHTS was founded in 1991 and after splitting up in 1995 they have reunited again in April 2011. The band plays rock, hard rock and melodic rock in Georgian, Russian and English languages.  

     
Field Office Mtskheta:
 
  • May 10, 2011 - 10:00 NATSRETI
    EUMM monitors will cook for children in a Kindergarten with about 40 children involved
  • 10:30 TBILISI
    Dialogue with students of the Tbilisi state university
  • May 11, 2011- 14:00 PERTIANI
    EUMM monitors will play volleyball, table tennis and chess with local children
  • May 12, 2011- 10:00 MCHADIJVARI
    EUMM monitors will cook European dishes with schoolchildren. Also, children of the school will put on performance.
  • May 13, 2011 - 11:00 MTSKHETA,
    in the square by the Samtavro Mother’s Monastery
  • 16:00 KODA
    Performance will be put on by the Shadow Theatre in the cultural centre of IDPs in Koda.
