12.09.2011
The General Affairs Council of the European Union adopted on 12 September 2011 a decision to extend the mandate of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia until 14 September 2012.

EUMM began its operations on 1 October 2008 as a result of the Six-Point agreement and its implementing measures signed between President Medvedev and President Sarkozy in the aftermath of the 2008 conflict between Russia and Georgia.

The Mission is mandated to monitor the compliance of all parties with the Six-Point agreement and to ensure there is no return to hostilities, that people can return in peace to their homes and that normal life can resume.
