Deputy Secretary General of EEAS visits EUMM

Mr. Maciej Popowski, the Deputy Secretary General for Inter-institutional Affairs of the European External Action Service visited EUMM Georgia on 26 March.

The Deputy Secretary General was welcomed by Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission and other senior staff members. Mr. Popowski was first briefed about the Mission at the HQ in Tbilisi, and was given an insight on recent progress and future challenges. Within their tight programme the visitors also paid a visit to EUMM Field Office Gori, then joined a patrol to see monitoring work on the ground at the Administrative Boundary Line. The delegation also visited the settlement for Internally Displaced Persons in Tserovani.

Mr. Popowski expressed that the EUMM’s work in stabilisation, normalisation and confidence building is highly appreciated in Brussels.
