Human security in the focus

17.04.2012
On 11-14 April the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia hosted human rights and gender experts from the European External Action Service, Ms. Catharina Wale Grunditz and Mr. Aymeric Dupont. Ms. Wale Grunditz and Mr. Dupont talked to EU monitors from Field Office Mtskheta and Gori, met Internally Displaced People and followed EUMM patrols to conflict affected communities along the South Ossetian Administrative Boundary Line. They also had meetings with other actors working in this field; international organizations, national NGOs, as well as representatives of the EU family and Georgian authorities.

The visit was to give the experts from Brussels a closer insight to the work of EUMM and the overall human security situation in the area. It also helped exchanging information on human rights and gender issues, to be able to address these more efficiently in the future.
