Senior police officers from Germany and the Network on Humanitarian Action visit EUMM

25.04.2012
On Tuesday April 24 a delegation from the German Police Academy and senior police staff, and a group of international students from the Dutch University of Groningen were welcomed to the headquarters of the EU Monitoring Mission by Gerard A. Fischer, the deputy Head of Mission.

Although EUMM is an unarmed civilian mission, its monitors come from different professional backgrounds; police, military and civilian. Germany is one of the largest contributors to the EUMM in terms of numbers of staff.

The visitors were briefed about the role and work of the Mission, the history of the conflict, security situation on the ground, with special attention to the areas adjacent to the Administrative Boundary Lines (ABL) and recent challenges. The police delegation visited EUMM Field Office Mtskheta to receive more specific information before following an ABL patrol. The students of the Network on Humanitarian Action Master programme were especially interested in the situation of human security in post-conflict Georgia.
