19.06.2012
On 19 June the Head of the EUMM, Ambassador Tyszkiewicz, welcomed representatives from NATO’s Civil Protection Group and the Euro- Atlantic Disaster Response Co-ordination Centre (EADRCC) in Brussels to the Mission. The visitors wanted to inform the Mission about the detailed plans for the NATO/Euro-Atlantic Partnership Co-operation disaster response exercise “Georgia 2012” which will take place in Tbilisi in September 2012 so that there were no misunderstandings about the nature of this event.

The field consequence management exercise, which will last for 6 days, will include field activities, a training programme and a Table Top and Command Post Exercise. Participants will include NATO representatives, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Emergency Management Department, other NATO Allies and partner nations and interested international organisations.

The aim of “Georgia 2012” is to test disaster response co-operation with partner countries and contribute to Georgia’s national Civil Emergency Planning.
