On 19 March Chris Perkins, the Deputy Deployments Manager of the Stabilisation Unit in the UK Government visited EUMM to gain a thorough understanding of the Mission and its role in the post conflict environment. At the Headquarters he was welcomed by Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of Mission, who briefed the visitor about the general security situation and explained how the Mandate was implemented on the ground. Ambassador Tyszkiewicz thanked the United Kingdom for its support and contribution to EUMM.
Mr Perkins also went to Field Office Mtskheta where he joined patrols to the Administrative Boundary Line and to a settlement for Internally Displaced Persons in Tserovani. He took the opportunity to meet Mission members seconded by the UK at Field Office Gori and Zugdidi as well.
