On 09 November, within the framework of the EU Cultural Week in Georgia: Let’s talk about books!, monitors from EUMM’s Field Office in Zugdidi took part in a discussion with the Georgian author Dato Turashvili.
The event took place in the Shota Rustaveli State University in Batumi, where more than 90 persons attended the meeting, mostly students. The discussion focused on Georgian emigrants and the issues of cultural adaptation, patriotism and identity.
The same day, EUMM monitors attended a public lecture by Lasha Bugadze, a representative of the Young Georgian Writers Association. He focused on the roots of European literature – Homer, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and Aristophanes and Western novels, from Shakespeare to James Joyce.
