EU Prize for Journalism 2013 Award Ceremony 14 December

On Saturday, 14 December the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia and the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) will award the winners of the
EU Prize for Journalism 2013. The Award Ceremony will be followed by a concert of baroque music. The concert is held within the framework of the EU Cultural Factory – Music Festival. The concert will feature Georgian Sinfonietta, the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Christoph Mayer with Magda Ubilava on the harpsichord and pianoforte.

The EU Prize for Journalism is the first of its kind in Georgia. It will acknowledge journalistic work that has contributed to promoting a better understanding of the values of the European Union and reflects high standards of journalistic ethics and professionalism. The best journalistic pieces that were originally published, aired or posted in Georgia between 1 October 2012 and 30 October 2013 were selected by a jury composed of  Georgian and international members. Winners will be nominated in the following four categories:

1. Best investigative or opinion article in printed or online media;
2. Best investigative or opinion TV and Radio report;
3. Best social media profile, blog or blog post promoting   vivid, balanced, fair and pluralistic debates illustrating EU values.
4. The most informative news agency or online newspaper.

Peace Journalism - EUMM SPECIAL PRIZE
    
This year the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) will award a Special Prize for Peace Journalism. The Prize seeks to encourage and reward conflict-sensitive journalist work, and to empower reporters to cover conflict-related issues constructively.
