Latvian President Vējonis visits the EUMM

Yesterday, 29 March 2017, the Acting Head of the EUMM, Erik Hoeeg welcomed the President of the Republic of Latvia, H.E. Raimonds Vējonis to the Mission’s Field Office in Gori. The President’s delegation included, amongst others, the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Latvia, Mr Rihards Kozlovskis and Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia, H.E. Jānis Zlamets.  

The Deputy Head of Mission supported by Deputy Field Office Chief Mihaela Gherasim briefed the Latvian delegation on the Missions’ mandate and main operational activities as well as on its contribution to stabilisation, confidence building, and normalisation along the Administrative Boundary Lines.

Following the briefing, President Vējonis met with the four members of the Latvian contingent serving in the Mission. The President also took time to commend all men and women in the Mission for their contribution to fulfilling the Mission’s mandate.

The President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis and the First Lady, Iveta Vējone is on a 4-day state visit to Georgia.
