18.10.2021
Tbilisi, 18 October 2021 –The Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ivan Korčok, visited today parts of the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) with South Ossetia near Odzisi, with the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), Ambassador Marek Szczygieł.

During the visit, EUMM Head of Mission informed the Minister of the most recent security and humanitarian developments along the ABL, and of their impact on the daily life and human rights of conflict-affected communities living on both sides of the ABL.

In this regard, he noted that the Odzisi crossing point has now been closed for over two years and stressed the challenges that this, and the ongoing pandemic, mean for the local population, including in terms of access to education, healthcare, property, or religious sites.

Foreign Minister Korčok used the opportunity of his visit to thank the Mission for its continued contribution to stability throughout Georgia, as the only international monitoring mission on the ground.

Eight Slovak nationals are currently serving the Mission as monitors.
