Slovak Delegation visits Odzisi

11.10.2022
Today, Deputy Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia, Dr. Tibor Kozma, hosted a Slovak Delegation on a visit to the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) in the Odzisi area. The Delegation included, among others, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, Marian Majer, and Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Georgia, Pavel Vízdal.

During the visit, the Deputy Head of Mission informed the Delegation about the most recent security and humanitarian developments along the ABL, and their impact on the daily life and human rights of conflict-affected communities. In this regard, he stressed the negative impact of “borderisation” activities on the local population’s freedom of movement.

The Deputy Head of Mission also pointed out that since last August the Odzisi crossing point is open between the 20th and 30th of each month, until December 2022. He emphasised that the Mission and OSCE will continue to call for the full resumption of freedom of movement across the ABL.

Slovakia is one of the contributors of personnel to the Mission. A total of 6 experts of Slovak nationality work in the Mission.
