Today, 6 July 2016, the 37th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Gali. It was an ordinary meeting after the latest extraordinary IPRM meeting at the end of May, and we welcome the resumption of regular meetings.
The meeting covered an extensive agenda related to security situation and incidents on the ground. The main focus was devoted to continuous discussions and exchange of information concerning the fatal incident in Khurcha on 19 May 2016. Georgian participants shared additional materials concerning the ongoing investigation. A few other incidents dating several years back were also discussed.
Participants had detailed discussions on a variety of issues relating to the security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line, borderisation, crossing regime and the functioning of the EUMM facilitated Hotline.
Discussions took place in a constructive working atmosphere.
It was agreed that the next IPRM meeting will take place in Gali on 2 August 2016.
