On 19th July 2016 , the 68th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Kęstutis Jankauskas, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Guenther Baechler, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.
The security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) was the subject of much attention. The participants were appreciative of recent instances of early warning with regards to training and exercises.
There were extensive discussions on detentions and also of missing persons; again, it was encouraged that the Hotline should continue to be used as an effective instrument of communication.
The issues of farming and stray animals were also raised and their importance to people living along the ABL was noted.
The next IPRM meeting will take place on 31st August 2016.
