The 45th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), chaired by the UN with participation of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM), took place in Gali on 25 April 2017 in a business-like atmosphere.
Participants further exchanged opinions and positions concerning some of the old cases, notably the murder of G. Otkhozoria in Khurcha in May 2016. Participants provided information on past cases related to smuggling of radioactive materials. They agreed to review this area further. Some new incidents were discussed, for example, the detention of two Georgian citizens on 6 April 2017, and the investigation of a murder case in Sida village on 9 April 2017. Participants agreed to exchange information to assist the investigation.
They also discussed issues relating to education, agricultural activities and personal documents for the local population in the Gali district.
The next Gali IPRM meeting is scheduled for the 31 of May 2017.
