Foreign Minister of Denmark visits Administrative Boundary Line with EUMM

01.04.2022
Tbilisi, 1 April 2022 – A delegation from Denmark, headed by Danish Foreign Minister, Mr. Jeppe Kofod, visited today parts of the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) with South Ossetia, accompanied by the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), Ambassador Marek Szczygieł.

Head of Mission Szczygieł welcomed the delegation in the village of Mukhrani and then proceeded with the visitors to the Odzisi area, including the Odzisi crossing point, which has now been closed for over two and a half years.

At the Odzisi crossing point, Head of Mission Szczygieł briefed the Minister on the most recent security developments along the ABL and their impact on the daily life and human rights of conflict-affected communities. He also emphasised how the prolonged closure of the crossing point has a negative impact on the local populations when it comes to freedom of movement and access to education or adequate healthcare.

Foreign Minister Kofod used the opportunity of his visit to thank the Mission for its role in enhancing security and stability on the ground.

Fifteen Danish nationals are currently serving the Mission as monitors.
